Drawn Together: The My Fault Author’s Bodyguard Romance

On the radar · Crossover

The My Fault author wrote a bodyguard romance for adults.

Mercedes Ron, the author behind My Fault, published her adult debut on August 4, and it’s a romantic thriller built around a kidnapping and a bodyguard.

Drawn Together is book one of the Marfil Saga from Atria Books. Marfil Cortés is twenty, a Columbia student, and the daughter of a powerful businessman. She’s abducted in Central Park and wakes up in a New Orleans hospital with no memory of it. Her father hires a bodyguard, Sebastian Moore, described as controlled, distant, and unreadable.

It’s shelved as a romantic thriller, not dark romance, and I’d rather say so than stretch the label. But the ingredients sit close to the genre’s usual furniture: a threat that won’t fade, a man whose job is to stand between her and it, and a pull neither of them is meant to act on. If that protector-she-shouldn’t-want dynamic is why you read dark romance, this is in range.

It’s also already on screen. The adaptation started streaming on Prime Video on September 9, so plenty of people will meet the story there before they meet the book.

A note on content

  • The publisher lists kidnapping, violence, and power imbalance as content warnings.
