Hunting Adeline is the back half of the Cat and Mouse Duet, and it’s the darker one by a wide margin. Book one ended with Adeline taken. This one opens with her already inside the Society, the trafficking network that has decided she’s worth more sold than free, and already coming apart under it. Zade is tearing the country apart to reach her.

It’s a survival story and a revenge story with a romance running through both, and it never pretends that getting free is the same as being healed. Harrowing on purpose, with a content-warning list it earns every line of.
