Penguin Random House UK has launched DUSK, a new adult crossover imprint, with its first titles due out this fall — romance sitting at the center of the list.

It’s led by publisher Carmen McCullough and editorial director Amina Parchment-Youssef, and the stated aim is readers who don’t stay in one lane: people moving between YA, new adult, and adult shelves without thinking twice about it. That’s basically a description of how a lot of us actually read. The genre range they’re pointing at runs from cozy romance through sports romance to full romantasy, which tells me this isn’t a one-trope imprint chasing a single trend.

What I find genuinely interesting here is the timing. Self-published and small-press authors have been serving exactly this crossover reader for years, building the audience that a major imprint is now trying to formalize with a dedicated list and a marketing budget behind it. A trad imprint building infrastructure around genre-blending, romance-forward reading habits is a real acknowledgment of where readers already are, not the other way around.

No individual DUSK titles have been announced yet, so there’s nothing to pre-order or add to a TBR just yet. But an imprint built specifically for genre-crossing romance readers is worth watching, especially once the first list actually drops.
