The October and November Dark-Romantasy Slate Is Set

The October and November dark-romantasy slate is set, and it’s a genuinely stacked couple of months.

Adalyn Grace opens things on September 22 with her first adult book, The Wretched Divine — a knight soulbonded first to an angel, then to a demon, which is exactly the kind of premise I want to see her handle with a full adult register. Elena Armas follows on November 17 with Alma Vampires, the opener to a new series called The Icarus University, built around a century-old blood debt. There’s already a deluxe edition listed, so collectors should watch for that.

Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti’s Lightwing lands around November 3, continuing Crown of Hearts and Chaos and marketed explicitly as dark romantasy. Cassandra Clare opens the final Shadowhunters trilogy in November with The Last King of Faerie — for anyone who’s followed that world since the beginning, this is the start of the actual ending. Rounding it out: Nora Roberts’s Birth of the Witch and Abigail Owen’s The Wrath Gods Reap, both November.
