On My Radar: The Endless Dark by Rose R. Briar
On my radar · ARC reaction
A werewolf king, a half-vampire heroine, and six years of silence between them.
An ARC landed in my inbox a few weeks ago, and I have not shut up about it since.

The book is The Endless Dark, the debut novel from Rose R. Briar and book one of The Immortal Heirs Trilogy. It’s out October 13, and I got an early copy through the author’s own ARC team. I’m not posting a review here, and I’m not going to pretend I’ve formed a verdict I’m ready to share. This is just me, several weeks out from release, telling you why it’s been sitting in my head.
Six years ago, Amara did something drastic to stop a god from destroying the world, and it cost her almost everything, including the man she loved. Now her hiding place has fallen, and she’s running for her life with her adopted son, whose magic is getting stronger and more dangerous by the day. The only safe place left is the territory of the werewolf king she left behind without a word of explanation, and the wounds between them are exactly as raw as six years of silence would leave them.
What’s actually in it
- Second-chance love, the kind with real silence behind it, not a misunderstanding
- “He thought she was dead,” and he did not take it well
- Vampires, werewolves, and witches sharing a map
- Ancient magic, a magical inheritance, and a kid caught in the middle of it
- A dying world on a countdown clock, not a court-intrigue-of-the-week plot
- A morally grey villain I’m not naming yet
Amara is half-vampire, hiding a secret that could break the man she loved the moment he learns it. Rhordan is the werewolf king who cut his hair short the day he let himself believe she might still be alive. Their whole dynamic is built on the tension between six years of silence and whatever comes out once she finally has to talk. I’m not spoiling what that is.
This is a debut with real scope to it. It isn’t a court-intrigue plot or a monster-of-the-week plot, it’s building toward something civilization-ending, and it commits to that scale from early on. If you’re the kind of reader who wants a fated-mates, second-chance romance with actual stakes attached, this one’s worth putting on your list before October 13.
A note on content
This is a dark fantasy romance, adult, with the content that implies. I’ll have the full content-warning list up alongside any future coverage of the book. For now: this post is spoiler-free by design, quotes and setup only.
