On the Radar: Crowns of Nyaxia Branches Into a New Duet

I’m flagging this one, not reviewing it. I haven’t read it yet, but the structure is worth knowing before you go in.

Carissa Broadbent’s Crowns of Nyaxia released its fifth book, The Lion and the Deathless Dark, on August 4. What’s easy to miss is that it’s doing two jobs at once. It closes out book five of the main series, and it opens book one of a new two-book arc she’s calling the Bloodborn Duet.

That’s not a fan reading between the lines. Broadbent announced the structure herself, on her own channels, ahead of release. It’s a deliberate choice, not a rebrand somebody in marketing came up with after the fact, and it changes how you should think about “book five” going in, since treating it as a closer sells the whole gambit short. Think of it as a hinge instead.

For readers who’ve been with Oraya and Raihn since the start, this is good news: the world isn’t wrapping up, it’s expanding with a defined shape instead of an open-ended “and then there was more.” For readers who haven’t started the series yet, this is the moment to catch up before the duet picks up steam. A five-book head start only gets heavier the longer you wait.

What I’m not doing here

I haven’t read The Lion and the Deathless Dark yet, so this isn’t a review, and I’m not going to guess at plot, spice level, or where book two of the duet is headed. Consider this a status update: the series structure changed, it’s official, and it’s worth knowing before you pick your next read.
