Amazon’s Dark Romance Top Five on October 8

Alchemised was number one.

I don’t have BookScan or a publisher’s sales dashboard. What I can see is Amazon’s own Dark Romance bestseller category, and a daily tracker that takes a snapshot of it. On October 8, 2026, the top five looked like this.

the top five

• Alchemised by SenLinYu.
• Valentino: The Ruthless Italian by T L Swan.
• Woman Down by Colleen Hoover.
• The Voicemail: A Secret Baby, Mafia Romance by Natasha L. Black.
• Devil’s Promise: Dark Steamy Mafia Romance by Tammy Andresen.

Two of the five are mafia romances with the trope written right into the title. That’s not an accident. A chart like this rewards books that tell a shopper exactly what they are before the cover finishes loading. Woman Down sits at number three because Amazon files it under Dark Romance, which says as much about how the category gets used as about the book.

Amazon’s charts update by the hour. A book can sit at number one on a Tuesday and be gone by Friday, so read this as where attention was on one date. If you’ve read any of these, tell me whether it earned the spot.
