New Release: Raven Kennedy Announces The Sweetest Fiend

New release · Dark fantasy romance

Raven Kennedy just announced her first new world since Orea, and it’s a duology.

I don’t get many chances to say a multi-million-copy author is building a whole new mythology from scratch. This is one of them.

Raven Kennedy has announced The Sweetest Fiend, book one of a brand-new duology, currently slated for September 2026. Only one source has the release window confirmed so far, so I’m holding off on an exact date until a publisher or retailer locks it down. The month itself is solid.

Here’s why that’s worth a post on its own: this is Kennedy’s first new world since Orea. If you’ve read Gild or any of the rest of the Plated Prisoner series, you know that world wasn’t a small swing. It’s the kind of series readers build entire personalities around, and by most counts it’s sold somewhere around six million copies.

Six million copies is the kind of number that makes most authors stay exactly where they are. Kennedy’s walking away from Orea anyway.

There’s no synopsis out yet, so I’m not going to promise you tropes I haven’t confirmed. What I will say is that Kennedy’s track record with Plated Prisoner points toward the kind of villain-coded, forbidden-leaning dynamics her readers already know her for. That’s an expectation based on her body of work, not a spoiler from this book.

For a lot of romantasy readers, this is the release of the back half of the year. A new world from an author with a six-million-copy track record doesn’t come along often, and the timing puts it right in the thick of fall’s biggest release window.

So: are you preordering the day it goes live, or waiting to see what details land before you commit?
